Palestine Soul of Our Soul - poster DOWNLOAD
This is a banner I made for the protests against the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people, unprecedented in its horror, being committed in our lifetime. Here is a black and white downloadable version for you to print at home and make into posters, banners, postcards etc to support the cause.
ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO MEDICAL AID FOR PALESTINIANS
My sign was inspired in part by the words - now famous - of the beautiful man Khaled who held his dead granddaughter Reem so tenderly, breaking hearts around the world as he stroked her face and kissed her eyes and said goodbye, calling her "the soul of my soul". This touched me so deeply. And Reem and I share an Arabic name which means gazelle.
I wanted to convey this feeling that Palestine has indeed become our world soul, a test of our moral conscience.
We are being asked to face our real humanity as individuals, as countries and humanity-wide. What does it really do to our understanding of this life and our belief in fundamental justice when people are being massacred in their thousands and we can do nothing to help, in fact our governments support and continue the massacre by supplying more weapons to annihilate children? What does it do to our hearts, our humanity, when we can see plainly the unspeakable horror day after day but it is explained away, cheered on or ignored?
This moment has opened millions of eyes and hearts to the true rotten motives of the colonial capitalist racist systems and tactics that are still alive and well in our world, and despite it all I see hope, and, most importantly, *humanity* in the millions of hands and voices who defy this unjust war machine to lift up Palestine when she needs us most.
As the words of the chant say:
"In our thousands
In our millions
We are all
PALESTINIANS”
