The Two Roads - original painting
This oil painting began in the summer of 2023 during a painting demonstration I did at The Land Skills Fair, watched over by those who joined me. The two half-done faces stayed in my studio watching over me in turn during the following months, begging to be finished. I finally acquiesced, aptly at the hinge of the year, and here they are - a kind of Janus figure perhaps? Or the twin faces of a choice not yet made. I don't know. They are looking toward two possible roads holding germinating seeds in each hand. Will you go this way or that way? Where will you plant the germ of possibility? It is a moment between things, one that asks us to find the road of our own life story again and to trust the decision we make as we set our foot bravely upon it.
